As a result of an expanded rewards program and account benefit changes, the Bank Smartly® Checking monthly maintenance fee is $12 as of May 19, 2025.

This fee is automatically waived in the first 2 months from opening an account to allow you to fund the account and set up direct deposit if needed. Most customers have their monthly maintenance fee waived, and it can be waived on an ongoing basis by meeting at least one of the following requirements:

• Combined monthly direct deposit totaling $1,500+, or
• Average account balance of $1,500 or greater, or
• Account owner on a Bank Smartly™ Visa Signature® credit card, or
• Account owner on an eligible small business checking account, or
• Qualify for one of the three Smart Rewards® tiers (Gold Tier, Platinum Tier or Platinum Plus Tier), or
• Members of the military (requires self disclosure), Workplace-Financial Wellness Program, U.S. Bank Global Transition Solutions, clients ages 24 and under or clients 65 and over

What else is changing?

• Having an eligible personal U.S. Bank credit card no longer waives the monthly maintenance fee.
• A Bank Smartly® Checking account will automatically receive Smart Rewards Bronze Tier benefits at a minimum.
• Interest tiers for the Bank Smartly® Checking account have been updated.
