U.S. Bancorp Center has been the bank's headquarters since 2000

Downtown Minneapolis has been part of U.S. Bank’s history ever since the First National Bank of Minneapolis was founded nearly 160 years ago.

Today, U.S. Bank is one of downtown Minneapolis’ leading employers and that isn’t changing. U.S. Bank recently signed a long-term lease renewal for U.S. Bancorp Center, the company’s headquarters at 800 Nicollet Mall since it opened in 2000.

“Downtown Minneapolis is home to us. We’re pleased to sign a long-term lease on Nicollet Mall and remain committed to being a key part of the business community here,” said Andy Cecere, president and CEO of U.S. Bancorp. “It’s important to us that we contribute to the ongoing resilience of downtown and we believe this decision demonstrates that.” 

U.S. Bank also owns U.S. Bank Plaza in downtown Minneapolis, and the bank has the naming rights for U.S. Bank Stadium on the east end of downtown.

Like many companies, the way people work at U.S. Bank has shifted in recent years. Employees have more flexibility in how they work. To accommodate that shift, U.S. Bank is modernizing workspaces at multiple locations in the Twin Cities, including both U.S. Bank Plaza and Excelsior Crossings in Hopkins. These locations now feature hoteling space and lockers for employees who may only be in the office a few times a month.

The changing way in which employees work means less office space is needed than in the past. As a result, U.S. Bank has made the decision to not renew its lease at Meridian Crossing in Richfield. This move will also allow some teams that currently sit in different buildings to be at the same location.

These employees will move to other U.S. Bank locations in early 2024. No corporate roles will be eliminated with this move.
