Purdom will continue managing responsibilities she has led since joining the bank in 2022
Kathryn Purdom
In the nearly two years that Kathryn Purdom has served as deputy general counsel and leader of the Office of the Corporate Secretary for U.S. Bancorp, she has enjoyed a unique vantage point across the company, its leaders and its board of directors.
“I enjoy how broad and dynamic the topics are that we get to address,” Purdom said. “Strong and effective corporate governance is so foundational and important to the company, its culture and our engagement with investors and other stakeholders.”
The Office of the Corporate Secretary team, which Purdom joined as leader in April 2022, is responsible for corporate governance matters and supporting the U.S. Bancorp and U.S. Bank National Association Boards of Directors, as well as advising on the company’s subsidiary management, annual meeting of shareholders and proxy statement, executive compensation, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters.
While those responsibilities aren’t changing, the new year brings a new title for Purdom, with the U.S. Bancorp Board of Directors electing her as the company’s corporate secretary.
“The board’s vote solidifies its esteem for and confidence in Kathryn and her abilities,” said Jim Chosy, the bank’s general counsel, who Purdom reports to and who previously served as corporate secretary. “She is a tremendous asset to our company and this election is well-deserved.”
Purdom, who is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, including tenures at Bank of America and Wachovia. Before joining U.S. Bank, she spent more than nine years at Wells Fargo, most recently serving as leader of that company’s Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategy and Integration group.
